Nursing Program at Plattsburgh State

Professional Preparation for a Growing Industry

The nursing program at Plattsburgh State offers the opportunity to enter the growing field of professional nursing. Nurses provide care to people at their greatest hour of need. Nurses also educate people to maintain a high quality of life.

Plattsburgh State has energetic, creative faculty members who challenge students to perform at their optimal level. Because class sizes are fairly small each student is given individual attention.

The Damianos Nursing Skills Laboratory is well equipped to prepare the student for real-life situations. The varied clinical rotations expose students to a wide range of health care areas. Four-year students begin hands-on clinical practice in their sophomore year.

Programs of Study

We offer two nursing programs. The first is aimed at individuals without experience in the nursing profession who wish to become registered nurses (R.N.s). This program takes approximately four years of full-time study. The second program is for R.N.s who wish to continue their education and can be pursued on a part-time basis. Both programs lead to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing.
